Drawing from both Classical Pilates and specialized pre/postnatal training, this intensive bridges theory and real-world teaching, incorporating current guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Led by Kate Garfield and the Violet Hour teaching team with advanced training in pre + postnatal Pilates, this intensive integrates Classical methodology with specialized education in working with pre + postnatal bodies.

OVERVIEW

This three-day intensive is designed for Pilates instructors, fitness professionals, and anyone interested in deepening their understanding of movement during and after pregnancy.

The training combines clear frameworks with practical application, giving you both the structure and flexibility to work confidently in real time.

Observation and real-time teaching practice are integrated throughout, culminating in a final teaching component required to receive a certificate of completion.

DAY ONE

Foundations + Pregnancy


  • Physiological changes during pregnancy

  • Core and pelvic floor considerations

  • Breath and pressure management

  • Positioning and alignment

  • Introduction to exercise adaptation

DAY TWO

Teaching During Pregnancy


  • Modifying the classical mat repertoire

  • Contraindications and considerations

  • Cueing with clarity and confidence

  • Working within a group class setting

  • Guided teaching practice

DAY THREE

Postpartum + Integration


  • Postpartum recovery and return to movement

  • Rebuilding strength and stability

  • Common patterns and compensations

  • Structuring a class with mixed-level clients

  • Final teaching component with feedback

REQUIREMENTS

To receive a certificate of completion, participants complete:
  • 12 hours of in-person training

  • 10 hours of self-practice and observation

  • 4 hours of practice teaching 

These additional hours are designed to support integration and give you the opportunity to apply the material in your own teaching.
